Small Bluetail Ischnura pumilio

Syn. Scarce Blue-Tailed Damselfly

Very rare and irregular species in southern Finland. In 2006 the species was found in only one locality, but was much more common in 2007, with several new locations. Apparently increasing it's range, most likely colonizing from both over the Gulf of Finland and from Karelian Isthmus. Will perhaps become more common in coming years.

Favours - apparently relatively clean - small waterbodies in early succession status, with quite bare bottom and a little of emergent plantation.

Flight time June-July
